Anonymous asked: You dont have to reply to this if you dont wish. But last Friday I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. Truth is I do not know how to handle it. I told my two best friends, one of them is very supportive and I can talk to about, however the other one will not even acknowledge it. She will tell me to 'cheer up' and 'be happy' which is almost insulting.. I noticed you went through it, how did you handle it? Dont feel as though you have to reply.
Personally, I don’t think anyone can comprehend what Depression and/or Anxiety really are until they’ve been through it themselves. People are very quick to judge, because these days the word Depression is often mistaken for sadness, or used for attention. I know exactly how you feel, it’s beyond insulting. It’s not as simple as ‘Being Happy’ or ‘Cheering up’, but if you beleive in yourself, and get yourself the help you need, it will get better. Get the help you need and focus on getting yourself to a good place, don’t worry about what other people say or think.
